Permit For Work For
Proximity For Work
A document referred to as a ‘permit for work’, or other proximity work equivalent document, issued by NATIONAL GRID or a User in accordance with its respective Safety Rules to enable work to be carried out in accordance with OC8. and which provides for Safety Precautions to be applied and maintained.
Safety Co-ordinator
A person nominated by NATIONAL GRID or by a User to be responsible for the co-ordination of safety precautions when work is to be carried out on a System which necessitates the provision of safety precautions on either HV, LV or Mechanical Equipment.
Requesting Safety Coordinator
The Safety Co-ordinator requesting safety precautions.
Implementing Safety Co-ordinator
The Safety Co-ordinator implementing safety precautions.
User
A party whose System is connected to the NATIONAL GRID System
Local Procedures
Any NATIONAL GRID document or equivalent User document providing compliance with a requirement in this procedure.
Local Control Person
A Senior Authorised Person (SAP 1 and/or 2 and 3) acting as the Control Person (Operation) and Control Person (Safety) for LV and mechanical Equipment.
Isolation request Form
This document is used to define, secure and maintain safety precautions across the interface of two Safety Management Systems. (See Appendix C - UK BP/SE/301)

Apparatus
All equipment in which electrical conductors are used, supported or of which they may form as part of a system
Delegation of Authority
A contract between NGET and a 3rd party allowing temporary delegation of authority for Operational/Safety switching instructions at defined locations in accordance with the relevant SRS agreed schedule
Multi-User Switching Agreement
A contract between NGET and a 3rd party allowing Operational/Safety switching instructions to issued using an alternative companies Safety Rules by use of trigger phrases, as dictated by the relevant SRS
NGET Control
Generic term given to the Transmission Network Control Centre (TNCC) post legal separation
3rd Party
Someone who may be indirectly involved but is not a principal party to an arrangement, contract, deal, lawsuit, or transaction. Typical 3rd parties include Generators, DNOs etc
