Safety Equipment & EPs Flashcards
How many ELTs are carried on board?
ELTs must be carried whenever life rafts are carried. Whenever 1 life raft is carried at least 1 ELT must be carried. Whenever more than 1 life raft is carried then 2 ELTs must be carried.
(1 fixed ELT is fitted to the fuselage and 1 other is stowed in the cabin)
What is the preflight check for the fire extinguisher?
Correct number and location, needle in the green band, safety pin installed and secure in bracket.
What is the preflight check for the ELT?
-Correct number and location
-Secure in its bracket
(During preflight checks the type of ELT must be identified - the RESCU 406 (SE) is identified by the strobe ring at the top)
What are the 4 switch positions on the RESCU 406 (SE) and describe what occurs in each switch position?
ARM - ELT transmissions commence. ENG will leave the ELT in the ARM mode.
