Physical well-being includes being physically, maintaining adequate nutrition and proper body fat, obtaining adequate rest, in preventing disease and injury

Stress is a chemical, physical, or emotional factor that causes bodily or mental tension

The benefits of physical fitness include; improve personal appearance and self image, decreased resting heart rate and blood pressure, increased oxygen carrying capacity, increased muscle mass and metabolism

Adequate rest is necessary to restore energy, maintain a healthy immune system, handle stress, and function at your best
Define stressor and name common stressors associated with working in EMS
A stressor is an event or condition that has the potential to cause bodily or mental tension. Common stressors fall into three categories; environmental, psychosocial, and personal.

Describe the bodies fight or flight response
When you encounter a stressor your brain tells the rest your buddy how to adjust to it. The part of the body that is first aware of the stressor sends a message along your nerves to your brain. Your brain receives the message and tells specific body organs to release chemicals. These chemicals activate the buddies fighter flight response. The fight or flight response prepares the body to protect itself
State the possible steps that EMS professionals make it to help reduce or alleviate stress
Ensure that your personal needs for food drink warm and companionship are met. Develop personal and departmental stress management strategies.
Develop a recreational outlet. Get away so you can recharge your emotional reserves. Learn to say no when you need time to yourself. Make sure you get adequate sleep. Develop mutually supportive friendships and relationships

Exhaustion, nightmares, flashbacks, anxiety, depression, irritability, and inability to concentrate, indecisiveness, and either hyperactivity or under activity
Define infection pathogen and communicable diseases
An infection results when the body is invaded by pathogens (germs capable of producing disease), such as bacteria and viruses. A communicable (contagious) disease is infection that can be spread from one person to another.
Define infectious disease exposure
In exposure is direct or in direct contact with infected blood, body fluids, tissues, or airborne droplets
Discuss the classification of communicable disease
Communicable disease may be classified as airborne, blood-borne, foodborne, or sexually transmitted
What are some examples of airborne diseases
Tuberculosis, measles, meningitis, rubella, smallpox, and chickenpox (Varicella)
What are some examples of blood borne diseases
Examples include hepatitis B virus (HBV), hepatitis C, human immunodeficiency virus (HIV), and syphilis
Give examples of foodborne disease
Examples include salmonella (food poisoning) and hepatitis A
Give example of sexually transmitted disease
Examples include chlamydia, gonorrhea, and HIV
Discuss the importance of standard precautions
Student precautions referred to the self protection against all body fluids and substances. This fluids and substances including blood, urine, Stephen, feces, vaginal secretions, tears, and saliva. Standard precautions include in Washington and using personal protective equipment. They also include the proper cleaning, disinfecting, and disposing of soiled materials and equipment.
Describe the steps EMS should take for PPE from airborne in blood-borne pathogen’s
Standard PPE includes eye protection and protective gloves, gowns, and HEPA or N 95 masks.
Describe a document and manage infectious disease exposure
Document the time and date of exposure, the circumstances surrounding the exposure, the type, source, and amount of body fluid to which you exposed, the actions you took to reduce the chance of infection
