Outlines employer’s duties and helps ensure health, safety and welfare of staff.
HSE
Health and Safety Executive. Government body that ensures H&S standards are upheld. E.g. by inspecting accidents, carrying out checks, etc.
COSHH
Control of Substances Hazardous to Health. Regulations that ensure all organisation follow specific rules when handling hazardous substances.
Risk Assessment
Systematic process for looking at all possible problems or dangers involved in an activity. Effective risk assessments lead to fewer H&S problems.
