What are the requirements under the law to surrender the baby?

Answer 1

Can’t ask the persons name
Baby must be 72 hours or younger
Baby can’t show any signs of abuse of neglect
Law allows 14 day cooling off period

If someone comes to the door to surrender a baby, what is our process?

Answer 2

Put yourself on a walk in medical aid
Attempt to have parent fill out questionnaire
Bracelet will be attached to the ankle, other is given to parent for 14 day cooling off period
Transpot to UCD
Notify SPD to meet at UCD
