What is a safe system?
A procedure to eliminate risks in a specific operation
What would be some examples of safe systems for a mechanical equipment hazards?
Training employees
Providing PPE
Establishing a maintenance program
etc.
When is a Permit To Work (PTW) required?
In some high-risk situations, i.e. when welding, in confined spaces, working on your own, etc
What does a PTW include?
Safety procedures that have already been agreed in advance, which authorise the person to carry out the work
What is a MSDS?
A Material Safety Data Sheet (MSDS) is what identifies a product (i.e. supplier, name of product, uses, etc.)
What is LOTO?
Lock Out, Tag Out (LOTO) is a safety procedure that ensures dangerous machines are shut off and cannot be restarted until maintenance/repair work has been done
