Sustainability considerations
Reduced carbon footprint for concrete production
Timber should be from sustainable sources
Transportation of hard landscaping materials
Plant selection - more sustainable to work with existing soil conditions than trying to change them to suit the plants.
Water - how to deal with periods of drought and paving of gardens resulting in surface water flooding.
Biodiversity - hedges instead of fences, incorporate a pond, areas for log piles etc
Composting
Addition of organic matter to conserve soil moisture.
Incorporation of bug hotels, and wildlife habitats
