S1 Flashcards
Describe the path of the ureter from the pelvis of the kidney
Ureter arises from the pelvis of each kidney and descends on top of the psoas major muscle to reach the brim of the pelvis. It runs postero-inferiorly on the lateral walls of the pelvis and then curves antero-medially to enter the bladder.
What is the vesicoureteric junction?
This is the junction between the distal ureter and the bladder.
What is the pelviureteric junction?
This is the junction between the pelvis of the kidney and the proximal ureter
At what level would you find the right kidney?
T12-L3
Which vessel will be occluded if there is an infarct in the renal medullary tissue supplied by vessels which arise from the efferent arteriole of large glomeruli situated close to the medullary border?
The vasa recta as the occlusion is in the medulla so the nephron must be a juxtamedullary nephron and hence the vasa recta being the vessel
