Auxiliary water supply
Supplementary source of water for the standpipe and or sprinkler system
What is an automatic standpipe system?
A standpipe system that is attached to a water supply capable of supplying the system demand at all times and that requires no action other than opening a hose valve to provide water at the hose connections
Control valve
A valve controlling flow to water based fire protection systems control valves do not include hose valves inspectors test valve drain valves trim valves for dry pipe pre-action and Deluge valves check valves or relief valves
What is a branch line?
A pipe system, generally in a horizontal plane, connecting not more than one hose connection with standpipe.
Deficiency is?
A condition in which the application of the component is not within its designed limits or specifications
What is a dry standpipe?
A standpipe system designed to have piping contain water only when the system is being utilized (no automatic water supply)
Rooftop Dunnage involves?
Designing a raised series of beams (usually steel) bearing on posts or bearing walls to support mechanical equipment (usually on a rooftop)
What is a Siamese connection?
A connection normally on the exterior of the building through which the fire department can pump supplemental water into the sprinkler system, standpipe, or other system furnishing water for fire extinguishment to supplement existing water supplies
What is a firehose?
A flexible conduit constructed with one or more reinforcements (jackets) with or without a coating or covering but with an approved non-permeable lining or with an inner reinforcement between a protective cover and an approved non-permeable lining
What is a fire hydrant?
A valve connection on the water supply system having one or more outlets and that is used to supply hose and fire department comes with water
What is an attack hose?
A hose designed to be used by train firefighters and five brigade members to combat fires beyond that incipient stage.
What is a booster hose?
A non-collapsible hose used under positive pressure having a elastomeric or thermoplastic tube, a braided or spiral reinforcement and an outer protective cover.
What is a cupboard hose?
A hose with a jacket covered and lined with the continuous synthetic rubber or plastic. The cover is usually thicker than a coating.
What is a firehose?
A flexible conduit used to convey water.
What is an unlined hose?
A hose consisting of only a woven jacket that is usually of linen yarns and is of such quality that the yawns swell when wet, tending to seal the hose
