Rythms Flashcards
Describe Atrial flutter
Regular, narrow complex tacky
Saw tooth baseline, best seen in V1 and lead II
Atrial rate can hit 300 bpm
Describe junctional rhythm
Originates at the AV node
Retrograde p-waves seen in ST segment
Regular
Describe Supraventricular ectopies
Sinus rhythm
Varying morphology of p-waves on beats 3,6 and 9
Varying PR + RR intervals
Where do supraventricular rhythms originate?
Above the AV node
What do supraventricular rhythms have?
Narrow QRS
What do ventricular rhythms have?
Broad QRS
What is bigeminy?
1 sinus beat with a VPC
What is trigeminy?
1 sinus beat with 2 VPC’s
What should be done in Ventricular fibrillation?
Shock the patient
What is aberrancy 1?
Originates in ventricle + complex is broad
Possible association with LBBB or RBBB
What is aberrancy 2?
Treat as VT if in doubt
Good predictor of SVT with aberrancy is the pre-existence of bundle branch block
What is bifascular block?
2 of PR >200ms, LAD, RBBB
What is trifascular block 1?
PR >200, LAD and RBBB
What is trifascular block 2?
Alternating RBBB and LBBB
Name 4 cardiac arrest rhythms?
Ventricular tachycardia
Ventricular fibrillation
Complete AV block
Pulseless electrical activity
