Russian government before the Revolution:
Until 1905 the czar’s powers were unlimited and Russia had no Constitution or political parties to check the czars powers. Terrorists and secret police “KGB” stamp out any Rebellion in the monarchy

the last tsar of Russia was a harsh and weak ruler. The Russian economy was bankrupt because of the russo-japanese War and World War 1 Russia’s entry into World War One became very unpopular
Bloody Sunday (1905)
a peaceful factory petition taken to the Czar to ask for better conditions turns into a Slaughter when Palace guards fired on the Innocents. 1500 people died.
Russia declares war on Austria-Hungary
very unpopular with the people. Due to rationing serfs begin to starve
March Revolution (1917)
protest spread through st. Petersburg and the Royal Palace is taking over. The czar’s family is executed and he abdicates under gunpoint. Provisional government, dooma, takes control under gunpoint. Provisional government, dooma, takes control, led by Alexander kerensky. The Duma were also very unpopular due to their decision to stay in World War One.
October Revolution (Bolshevik) (1917)

1918 March
the Bolsheviks (communists) except the Peace of brest-litovsk, ending World War one with Germany
1919 White vs. Red
White armies (Royal and menshevik troops) attack Reds (Bolsheviks) from all directions. In 1920 the Reds defeat the whites
Rule of Lenin (1920-1924)
economic reforms include the new economic plan (NEP) a moderate mix of capitalism and socialism.

1924
Lenin dies leaving a power vacuum. Leon Trotsky vs. Joseph Stalin. Stalin has Trotsky mysteriously murdered by the KGB installing seizes control, deciding to create a totalitarian state in Russia (dictatorship)
