Define Nursing Operation?
First arriving Engine and Tanker position on fire scene for attack, and a 2nd tanker will position at dump site, supplying water via a clappered siamese.
1st Engine Responsibilty (Nursing Operation)
Arrive and layout with a Siamese
1st Tanker (Nurse Tanker) Responsibility (Nursing Operation)
Position close to 1st Engine.
Connect LDH supply line to attack Engine and supply water.
Drop Siamese if 1st Engine didnt.
2nd Engine Responsibility (Nursing Operation)
Complete setup of Nursing Operation
Supply water into system if no tankers available
3rd Engine Responsibility (Nursing Operation)
Supply water if no tankers available.
Position out of way and staff dump site
4th Engine Responsibility (Nursing Operation)
Supply water if no tankers available
Position out of way and assume RIT
5th Engine Responsibility (Nursing Operation)
Establish Fill Site.
Establish at least two fill stations, positioned far enough apart to permit ease of vehicle movement.
1st Engine Responsibility (Direct Fill Operation)
What do you do if dump site is less than 200 ft away?
Drive directly to fire scene.
If dump site is less than 200 ft away, lay in or hand jack back to dump site.
1st Tanker Responsibilities (Direct Fill Operation)
If dump site is less than 200 ft away?
IF dump site is more than 200 ft away but less than 1000 ft?
Position out of route of travel at dump site, connect a line to 4 inch Siamese valve attached to 1st engines supply line and serve as direct fill tanker at dump site.
Proceed with 1st Engine to scene and supply water to Engine
2nd Engine Responsibilities (Direct Fill Operation)
Less than 200 ft away?
More than 200 ft but less than 1,000 ft?
No tanker on Scene?
Transfer water to 1st tanker if it’s on scene.
Layout from dump site to 1st Tanker and prepare to supply 1st tanker.
Supply water to 1st Engine through 4 in Siamese
2nd Tanker Responsibilities (Direct Fill)
Less than 200 ft away?
More than 200 ft?
Transfer water to the First Tanker
Position out of travel at dump site, connect a line to 4 in Siamese valve attached to the 2nd Engines supply line, prepare to serve as direct fill tanker at dump site.
3rd and 4th Engine Responsibilities (Direct Fill)
Transfer water to tanker @ dump site.
Become part of water shuttle.
5th Engine Responsibilities (Direct Fill)
Establish Fill Site, and establish at least 2 lines.
