How did secondary data help you reach your conclusion about the sphere of influence?
Number plate survey - we had secondary data on where different number plates originated from around the country. Without this we couldn’t have used our primary data to find out the sphere of influence
How did secondary data help you reach a conclusion about which groups of the population were more deprived than others?
Census data was useful in showing that both villages had an ageing population suggesting that young people were moving out of the area - a sign of deprivation.
How did the functional change survey help you reach a conclusion about service provision?
It showed that the number of services found Slapton had declined more than Chillington, suggesting that people in Slapton are more deprived in terms of access to services such as shops, buses and GP surgeries than in Chillington.
How useful was the questionnaire data in reaching a conclusion?
The data showed that the large majority of residents in both Slapton and Chillington thought that they lived in a nice place and therefore suggested that although the residents face some issues, their perception is that South Hams is not a deprived area.
