Q

changes in a developed country

A

In the fens diversification is when farmers branch out into other ventures to boost their income, such as providing a campsite/caravan park on their grounds. This disadvantage to providing this service is that tourists may leave litter which can harm wildlife

farm machinery refers to tractors la and combine harvesters which can help increase crop yield and decrease the amount of many spent on wages as there is no physical labour involved. A disadvantage of this is that it costs a lot of money to buy and repair the machines

chemicals such as fertilisers and pesticides are used to produce higher crop yields, this can result in more income. A disadvantage is that these chemicals can cause water pollution in rivers and lakes which can kill fish in the water

Q

changes in a developing country

A

in Kerala, one change that has been made is new technology . this refers to tractors and combine harvester which can help increase crop yield and require less physical labour. A disadvantage of new technology is that fewer jobs are now available as the use of mechanisation has increased

another change is GM crops. This is when crops are genetically modified to grow better. GM crops are more resistant to insects and diseases. A disadvantage of GM crops is that HYV crops need more fertiliser and pesticides which increases the costs

a third change is biofuels, this is when fuels are made from plant material. Biofuels are a cheaper alternative to fossil fuels. However, little is known about biofuels, so many industries are reluctant to use them
