Player (Section 1)

- Individual retains player status during timeout

Team (Section 2)
A
- Teams may continue to play with fewer than 5 players if no more are eligible
- ONE PLAYER LEFT… team forfeits unless ref says both teams have opportunity to win

Captain (Section 3)
A
- May address officials on matters of interpretation or to obtain essential info (respectfully).
- ANY PLAYER can request a TO or permission to leave the court.

Lineup and Subs (Section 4 & 5)
A
- Names submitted earlier than 10 min. before game
- Only changes allowed after: injury, illness, blood on uniform, replacement for designated FT shooter, or correcting mistake
- Subs must report to scorers’ table first

Substitutes (Section 6)- Procedural Requirements
A
- Entering players should NOT replace designated jumper
- Subs between quarters must be reported to officials before play resumes
- During TO: Must or report or be in position to report BEFORE the warning horn (not permitted after)
- NOT PERMITTED: Game clock stopped after successful FG in last 59.9 sec. of second half or OT
- RE-ENTERING: next opportunity to substitute game clock as gone on between subs/ player entering on dead ball can leave on same dead ball w/o penalty
- 3 or more subs (same team): opposing captain may ask official to help locate entering players

Substitutes (cont.)- Free Throws
A
- CANNOT replace FT shooter until next opportunity
- Players can sub before final attempt (or during TO before warning horn.)
- Techs. and Flagrant- subs can enter before first attempt or after final attempt
- Player needs to be replaced: can sub once called in by official

Substitutes (cont.) - Required Subs
A
- Bleeding or injured player (over 20 sec. or after requested TO)- opposition can counter w/ a sub
- Blood on uniform (if saturated, must change uniform before returning)
- Immediate substitute for injured player ( if coach or staff is called onto court unless TO requested)
- Injured player who cannot attempt FT: Opposing coach picks one of four players ON the court; flagrant foul- opposing coach can choose any player to shoot FT
