Why is caffeine often included in medication?
- It enhances pain relief especially headaches
- It improves the absorbtion of the actual analgesic (e.g. paracetamol) by lowering gastric pH

- Examples.. methyl salicylate, nicotinates, camphor and methanol
- They work by causing redness and warming of skin through vasodilation - increasing blood flow
- E.g. deep heat

- Strain immobilise the injured joint

- Caused by breakage to local capillaries causing RBC to leak

- Causes due to lifting, gym, bad posture, sciatica, pregnancy, slipped disk
- NSAID and paracatemol
What is and treatment of rheumatism/arthritis
- Painful joints, swelling, inflammation, stiffness
- Glucosamine (anti-inflammatory properties and help cartilage regeneration)
- Chondroitin (helps retain water)
