Indications for Use: SABA
indicated for relief of acute reversible airflow obstruction in asthma or other obstructive airway diseases
Indications for Use: LABA
indicated for maintenance bronchodilation, control of bronchospasm, and the treatment of nocturnal symptoms in asthma or other obstructive diseases
Indication for Use: Racemic Epinephrine
to reduce airway swelling after extubation or during epiglottitis or croup or to control airway bleeding during endoscopy
Indications for Use: Anticholinergic Bronchodilator
maintenance treatment in COPD, including chronic bronchitis and emphysema
Indications for Use: Anticholinergic Bronchodilator + Beta Agonist
patients with COPD receiving regular treatment who require additional bronchodilation for relief of airflow obstruction
i.e. ipratropium bromide + albuterol (Combivent Respimat, DuoNeb)
Mechanism of action for anticholinergic bronchodilators
act as competitive antagonists for acetylcholine at muscarinic receptors on airway smooth muscle
Indication for Use: Inhaled Corticosteroids
The primary use of orally inhaled corticosteroids is for antiinflammatory maintenance therapy of persistent asthma and severe COPD
Indication for continuous bronchodilator treatment
Acute severe asthma (aka status asthmaticus) is unresponsive to repeated courses of bronchodilator
Indications for Use: Nonsteroidal Antiasthma
prophylactic management (control) of persistent asthma
