What benefits does a Church of England service have to the person?
•It adds a spiritual dimension to the marriage with God
•It welcome any heterosexual couple
•Welcomes any religion whether Christian or not
•Can be mixed faith
What happens before and during a Church of England service?
•In the lead up there is time to question the legality of the marriage
•The vows made to God and prayers said bring a blessing into the couples life
•Most words used during the service are from Common Worship
What happens before and during a non-conformist service?
•There is more freedom to plan their service: they are allowed to write their own vows
•In a Quaker wedding only God can join the couple: so no minister
•They sit in silence until they feel as if they should read their vows
•Then they sign the papers and sit back down
•Then guests sign the papers
What do the majority of church’s claim about marriage?
•The majority of churches including the Anglican, catholic and Methodist church teach that is important that marriage is between men and women
•The promises made are for life and not to be broken
What three blessings that marriage offers?
- The creation and nurture of children
- Help and Comfort in all aspects of life
- The correct place for sexual relationships
What does a Christian Marriage reflect?
•Christ’s love for the church, just as the married couple must remain committed together
•Christ showed his love via atoning sacrifice in the same way that a relationship should love one another
Describe the meaning behind a Catholic and Orthodox services?
• Marriage is considered a sacrament
• Created a unique and special bond between the couple and God
Describe what must a person be to have Catholic service?
•In a Catholic Marriage both must be baptised and one must be Catholic
•As a sacrament, marriage brings God’s grace through his sacrament which helps the couple stay together
