• adjust tension in string or move wooden bridge to adjust string length so a clear wave pattern can be seen
• use a metre ruler to measure across as many half wavelengths as possible and divide the total length y the number of half waves
• multiply this number by 2 to give wavelength
• calculate wave speed by multiplying wavelength by the frequency on the power supply
