• Power to stop vehicles (15min max) and demand driver details. Name address DOB etc and car owner details.
• Power of arrest without warrant 114(6) any person who fails to stop, refuses to give details, supplies false details.

Answer 2

• Power to enforce provisions of specific transport legislation.
• DIRECT a person on road to give identity details
• INSPECT, test, examine any part of vehicle or docs
• MOVE the vehicle causing obstruction
• DIRECT the vehicle to be moved causing obstruction
• FORBID unlicenced driver to drive
• FORBID transport operator not to drive
• DIRECT person using vehicle/riding animal to stop or pedestrian

To stop vehicles only to enforce LTA or other traffic-related Act/regulations.

Cannot be used to stop drivers acting suspiciously.

POL 650 GREEN = DEFECTIVE fails to comply with regulations or rules eg defective exhaust

POL 555 PINK = UNSAFE not in a safe condition to be driven on a road eg illegal modifications/structural rust.
