The royal palace was built with stone (Norman limestone, with flint)
What feature of the waiting room showed off the wealth of the castle?
The waiting room was connected to the great hall via the Bigod Arch. The arch was ornately decorated with a variety of vibrant colours.
What about the royal palace would have made locals feel intimidated and less willing to rebel?
The royal palace was huge, and was constructed upon a hill which made it tower over the bailey.
How many floors did the royal palace have?
The royal palace actually only had one floor. There was also a basement for storing guns, food and drink, but that hardly counts.
What could be found within the royal palace?
Within the royal palace, there was a great hall, a small kitchen, a mezzanine floor for musicians and garderobes. All this only took up 1/2 of the space; the rest was reserved for the King’s apartments.
