A
water that is safe to drink

what is pure water ?
A
water that contains no dissolved solids ie salts

A
use universal indicator to see if the sample is pH- green

how do you test for dissolved solids ?
A
- record the mass of an evaporating basin
- fill with water and place over a bunsen burner
- weigh the basin- if increases then there were dissolved solids

how can you purify water ?
A
through distillation

how does distillation work ?
A
you boil the water and the water vapor will travel along the collecting tube - it goes into test tube which is surrounded by cold water and condense

what is distilled water ?
A
water with no dissolved solids with a pH of 7- pure water
