RP 1- microscopes Flashcards
how do you calculate magnification (lenses)
magnification = eyepiece lens x objective lens
how do you calculate magnification (images) ?
magnification = size of image / size of actual object
what does the stage do ?
where the slide is placed and has clips to hold the slide
why is there a lamp or mirror at the bottom ?
so light can go through the slide
what magnification does the eyepiece lens have ?
10x
what magnification does the objective lens have ?
4x, 10x, 40x
how do you set a microscope up ?
- set the objective lens to the lowest
- turn the coarse focus so it almost touches the slide- look at is side ways
- look through eyepiece and adjust coarse focus
- use the fine focus to get a clear focus
what’s the differences between a light and an electron microscope ?
light has limited magnification and resolution but electron has both greater
where is the coarse focussing dial ?
at the top
where is the fine focussing dial ?
at the bottom
