describe 2 levels of UK Sports World Class Programme
- World Class Podium = supports ath;etes with potential to win in a medal at the next Olympics (maximum of 4 years away from the podium)
- World Class Podium Potential = supports athletes with the potential to win a medal at the next but on Olympics (maximum of 8 years away from the podium)
describe the role of UK sport & how they assist in winning medals
- decide how much funding each NGB gets based on success at last Olympics e.g. Bosleigh facility at Bath University so NGB and athletes have world class facilities
- supports deveopment of elite coaches
- assist NGB to administer and fund WCP e.g. medal winners may be on world class podium scheme
- finances and implemets talent ID schemes e.g. athletes may be identidied by a talent ID scheme (Girls4Gold)
- finance national institutes e.g. provide sports science support to enable athletes to be successful

describe the 4 stages of Talent Recruitment & Confirmstion Programme
phase 1: the athlete is assessed in a range of skill- based and physical tests, an in depth analysis of athletes competition and training history takes place
phase 2-3: further assessment of suitability, preparation for training & development, medical screening, psychological assessment
phase 4: 6-12 month trial inthe specific sports elite training environment
then athlete either progresses to the elite programme or return to club
