Aimed to provide work for 13 million people. ‘Relief, Recovery, Reform’

The federal government had become directly involved in daily lives of US citizens.
Why did some people dislike Roosevelt?
He was too ‘left wing’ for some Republicans and Henry Ford refused to meet him. Huey ‘Catfish’ Long, the Louisiana senator, believed he didn’t do enough and was going to stand aganist Roosevelt in 1936 but was assassinated in 1935.
