Romeo & Juliet Act 2 Flashcards
O Romeo, Romeo - wherefore art thou Romeo?
Deny thy father and refuse thy name.
Or, if thou will not, be but sworn my love,
And I’ll no longer be Capulet.
Juliet
Why does he have to be a Montague but if he proves his love for her she’ll give up being Capulet
But, soft! What light through yonder window breaks?
It is the East, and Juliet is the sun!
Romeo
That Juliet is bright and is so beautiful like the sun
What’s in a name? That which we call a rose
By any other name would smell as sweet.
Juliet
Whats so important about if a rose wasn’t called s rose it will still smell sweet
With love’s light wings did I o’erperch these walls.
For stony limits cannot hold love out.
Romeo
His love for Juliet is so strong no walls can keep them apart.
My life were better ended by their hate
Then death proroguèd, wanting of thy love.
Romeo
I would rather die by them killing me then dying without Juliets love
I have no joy of this contract tonight.
It is to rash, too unadvised, too suden
Juliet
She does not want to exchange vows then it was to fast and to sudden.
Parting is such sweet sorrow
That I shall say goodnight till it be morrow.
Juliet
Parting is so sad that she will say goodbye until it’s the next day
