What happens in Act 1?
We meet the families, The street brawl (Romeo is absent), Juliet and Paris’ marriage is discussed, Romeo is sad about Rosaline and Mercutio mocks him, Romeo and Juliet meet at the Capulet party.
What happens in Act 2?
Romeo and Juliet agree to get married at the balcony, Romeo goes to Friar asking him to marry him and Juliet, Juliet has her first soliloquy that Romeo hears, Friar voices his doubts about the marriage, Friar marries them hoping to end the family fued.
What happens in Act 3?
Tybalt tries to fight Romeo but Mercutio steps in resulting in his death - Romeo then kills Tybalt for this, Romeo gets bannished Mantua, Juliet is angry but takes his side over her family, Capulet plans for Paris to marry Juliet - Juliet refuses.
What happens in Act 4?
Friar plans Juliets death and sends a letter with the plan to Romeo but it is never received, Juliet agrees to marry Paris, Friar gives Juliet the potion - Juliet is scared but drinks it anyway, Juliet is found dead by Nurse.
What happens in Act 5?
Romeo finds out that Juliet is ‘dead’ - he buys posion and goes to Verona, Romeo finds Paris mourning over Juliet, They fight leading to Paris’ death, Romeo enters the tomb with Juliet in and drinks the posion, Juliet wakes up and stabs herself after finding Romeo dead, Prince blames the two families - ending their fued.
