Romeo and Juliet Flashcards
What, drawn, and talk of peace? I hate the word. As I hate hell, all the Montagues, and thee. Have at thee, coward
Tybalt : Wants to fight at all costs
I do but keep the peace.Put up thy sword, Or manage it to part these men with me.
Benvolio : Benvolio does not want to fight Tybalt.
If ever you disturb our streets again, your lives will pay the forfeit of the peace
Prince : Telling the Montagues and Capulets to stop fighting for once and for all
Out of her favour when i am in love
Romeo : Rosealine does not love romeo yet he loves her
Griefs of mine lie heavy in my breast
Romeo : Romeo has his own share of sadness
And I will make thee think thy swan a crow
Benvolio : he will make Romeo see other beauty’s at the feast
The all seeing sun. Ne’er saw her match since first the world begun
Romeo : he is saying there will never be anyone as beautiful as Rosealine again
If love be rough with you, be rough with love
Mercutio : He is telling Romeo to go in to the feast and get another beauty
I fear, to early. For my mind misgives. Some consequence, yet hanging in the stars.
Romeo : Fears he will die soon
Did my heart love till now? Foreswear it, sight! For I ne’er saw true beauty till this night.
Romeo : He has never seen anyone as beautiful as Juliet before this night
To strike him dead I hold it not a sin
Tybalt : he will not hesitate to kill a Montague
I will withdraw. But this intrusion shall, Now seeming sweet, convert to bitterest gall
Tybalt : Romeos visit will have the worst results
If he be married, My grave is like to be my weeding bed
Nurse :
“Fiery Tybalt”
Tybalt. : Tybalt has a reputation for being aggressive
It is the east, and Juliet is the sun!
Romeo : He mean’s Juliet is a light in his pain
O Romeo, Romeo, wherefore art tho Romeo? Deny thy father and refuse thy name. or , if thou wilt not, be but sworn my love, and I’ll no longer be Carpulet
Juliet : I will give up being a Capulet if you give up being a Montague
Whats in a name? That which we call a rose By any other name would smell as sweet.
Juliet : She would marry him and be a Montague as it sounds just as sweet
With loves light wings did I o’er-perch these walls. For stony limits cannot hold love out,
Romeo : he will fly over walls to prove they cannot hold love out
My life were better ended by their hate. Than death prorogued, wanting of thy love.
Romeo : He will die if he is deprived of his love
I have no joy of this contract tonight. It is too rash, too unadvised, too sudden;
I will not get married tonight it is to quick
Parting is such sweet sorrow. That shall say good night till it be morrow
Juliet : It is sad to part but I will see you tomorrow
What light through yonder window breaks? It is the East, and Juliet is the sun! (Romeo)
