Both poems present romantic love within relationships as strong regardless of any obstacles in the relationship

Whilst in “Winter swans”, romantic love is presented through imagery, “Singh song” is presented as strong through a a mercantile Lexus.

Both poems have a barrier separating the relationships with “Singh song” having traditional parents and “Winter swans” going through turbulent emotions.

Whilst in “Singh song” the speaker expresses his emtions and love for their partner, in “Winter swans the speaker struggles to.

L - Simile, signals hope for the relationship. The image is of it’s recovery not sinking/destructions.
D - Like the boats/swans the couple need to recover from the stormy patches in their relationship.

- Somatic field of commerce (shops) appears to be anti-theatrical to romance, But it’s her and their love that’s priceless

L - Metaphor
I - 1: connotes how the couple are emotionally cold to each other like the icebergs
2: Their are obstacles sin the way of their relationship that need to work round
“She effing at my mum” - Singh song
L - verb, the wife is unconventional as she mocks her parents in law.
D - She’s critical of his parents as he can’t stand up to them, this effects their relationship.
“Silent and apart” - Winter swans
L - Caesura, emphasises their emotional distance from each other
C - Skirid Hill, comes from the term “Skiriad” meaning apart
“we” “yoo” “my wife” - Singh song
L - Repetition of Possessive pronouns, shows they are a harmonious unit
- he is proud of his wife and that she is his, expresses his feelings
Structure point
Both poems break the stanzas structure, reflects the changing of their love. Singh song also uses couplets at the end of each poem to show they are together.
