Second and First Century BC - what happened?

A

Absorption of Greek Culture - Roman conquered Greece but recognised how much more developed and sophisticated its culture was, so simply absorbed it. To the point that by the last century BC, one couldn’t become a member of the Roman Elite without being fluent in Greek culture. Art, architecture, philosophy, literature etc.
