What was the history behind slaves?

A

Carthage and Greek defeats led to many slaves who were treated brutally on Roman plantations. If they escaped they would have to steal and then be caught and crucified.

A

He was captured by the Numantines and forced to sign a treaty. His quaestor, Tiberius Gracchus, saved many lives by writing the treaty. The treaty was rejected by the Roman senate though.

A

His cousin, Scipio Nasica, led a group to his rally and told them that he was trying to become king. A massacre ensued. 300 died including Tiberius. The commission still went ahead with redistributing land.
