ROLES - AV Flashcards
ACO
AMBULANCE COMMUNITY OFFICER - Employed on casual basis. Provide advanced first aid in rural communities where the workload is low.
AGP
AMBULANCE GENERAL PURPOSE - Fully equipped vehicle capable of transporting one (or sometimes two) patients at a time.
CERT
COMMUNITY EMERGENCY RESPONSE TEAM - Consists of AV volunteers who function as ‘first responders’ within defined communities where the nearest AV branch is at a distance.
CLIN
CLINICIAN - Is an AV CSO. Assigned to handling triage in the call centre.
CSO
CLINICAL SUPPORT OFFICER - Single MICA paramedic with extensive experience.
DM
DUTY MANAGER - AV team manager handling resource management in the call centre.
GM
GROUP MANAGER - Commander/Administrator for either a geographical region or specific aspect of operations. Acts as liaison officer with the other combatant or support agencies at a major incident.
MICA
MOBILE INTENSIVE CARE AMBULANCE - Primary response vehicles to provide advanced life support. Crewed with 2 MICA officers or one qualified MICA officer and one in training.
PRU
PARAMEDIC RESPONSE UNIT - Ambulances crewed by a MICA officer and QAP officer. Has the same equipment as an AGP unit, as well as all equipment carried by a MICA.
QAP
QUALIFIED AMBULANCE PARAMEDIC - This Is the level reached by an ambulance officer after attending University including practical training in the field. This is the basic standard held by all operational ambulance officers.
RAN
REMOTE AREA NURSES - Provide first line emergency care and stabilisation of patients. They work independently and refer patients to other areas for tertiary intervention.
