Superior to the spine of the scapula
What is the insertion of the supraspinatus ?
Superiorly on the head of the humerus

Assists in deltoid adduction of the arm
Stabilises the shoulder joint helping prevent downward dislocation
What is the origin of the subscapularis ?
Anterior surface of the scapula
What is the insertion of the subscapularis ?
Anteriorly on the head of humerus
What are the joint actions of the subscapularis ?
Rotates the arm medically
Stabilises the joint
What is the origin of the infraspinatus ?
Inferior to the spine of the scapula
What is the insertion of the infraspinatus ?
Laterally on the head of the humerus
What are the joint actions of the infraspinatus ?
Rotates the arm laterally
Stabilises the joint
What is the origin of the teres minor ?
Lateral border of the scapula near the inferior angle

Laterally on the head of the humerus
