Wealth, jazz music, new dance crazes, movies, motor cars, new technology, mass production
What did the assembly line do?
Made manufacturing cheaper.
Lead to increase in production and sale.
Hire purchase?
People buy new foods and pay back overtime.
American manufacturing…..
Set up branches in Aus but wages were barely improved.
How was people’s mood expressed?
Through music, fashion and entertainment
What did Americans do when alcohol was banned in the 1920’s until 1933?
Illegal bars were set up called ‘speakeasies’
What were women gaining?
More independence and freedom
Why were people shocked about women?
They were now drinking, smoking and wearing short dresses in public (flappers).
How were the strikers suppressed?
Threatened and beaten by cops, sometimes military.
What did African Americans suffer?
Poverty and discrimination
