Fredonian Rebellion
Edward and his supporters declared independence from Mexico and the land near Nacogdoches became the Fredonian Republic
Mier y Teran Report
He was sent to inspect Texas settlements and report back. He reported that American settlers outnumbered Mexican settlers 10 to 1.
Law of April 6th
- Immigrants from the U.S. are banned.
- All empresario contracts that aren’t completed, are canceled.
- Encouraged Mexican and European immigration.
- Outlawed slavery in Texas.
- Added more Mexican soldiers/forts in Texas.
- Added duties to ALL foreign goods entering Texas.
Centralist Party
- Came to power in 1829.
- Were more strict on colonists.
- Wanted central government to have more control.
Federalist Party
- Came to power in 1820.
- Left colonists alone.
- Wanted states to have more control.
Stephen F. Austin
He was going to deliver request changes from the convention.
Turtle Bayou Resolutions
- Pledged their allegiance to the Mexican Federalists.
- They said their actions were against Bradburn, not Mexico.
- Stated their loyalty to Santa Anna.
Battle of Velasco
John Austin got a cannon. Ugrartechea attempted to stop him and a fight broke out. Ugrartechea surrendered.

A president/dictator.
Convention of 1833
- Resume U.S. immigration.
- Texas to be exempt from import taxes.
- Separate statehood for Texas.
