Disturbance at Anahuac

A

Colonists at Anahuac fought with Mexican Colonel John Davis Bradburn and the Mexican officials over taxes on imported goods from the U.S, taking supplies intended for the settlements, and not returning runaway slaves.

Battle of Velasco

A

John Austin obtained a cannon that he loaded onto a ship to return to Anahuac. When he reached Velasco, Colonel Domingo de Ugartechea attempted to stop him and a fight broke out. When the Mexican army ran out of ammunition, Ugartechea surrendered. Austin returned to Anahuac to find the situation had resolved and his cannon was no longer needed.

A

A group of 200 Texians left Gonzales and arrived at Goliad and forced the Mexican soldiers to leave. They seized the weapons the Mexican Army had at Goliad.

A
