What precautions must be taken when a non-deployed air-bag is encountered during a rescue?

  1. Inform OIC and other rescuers of the risk
  2. Remember the 30/60/90 rule and remain out of the deployment pathway
  3. Attach a yellow warning sticker to the device
  4. Ensure vehicle is turned off and remove key (keep proximity keys at least 5m away from vehicle)
  5. Isolate the battery (negative first and communicate this to all rescuers once done)
  6. Ensure you peel and peek before any cutting or spreading
