What is RNR
a model of correctional programming
what is risk principle?
> match the level of service to the offenders risk to re-offend
based on criminogenic needs
high risks identify gaps that must be filled
what is need principle?
> assess the 7 needs and targets them
what is the responsivity principle?
> the treatment must be individually tailored to the offenders ability to learn in order to maximize the effectiveness of rehabilitative treatment
through learning style, strengths, motivations, mental disorders
Why do risk assessment?
> evidence informed decision making
fairness / impartiality
to predict recidivism and security need
create an intervention / strategy/ correctional plan
What two types of risk assessments are there?
> clinical
