RMCE / MERGE/ WSOMSNet Flashcards
What does GSCCE stand for and what is it a subsystem of?
Global Satellite Configuration and Control Element
RMCE
What does WRMS stand for and what is it a subsystem for?
Wideband Remote Monitoring Sensor
WSOMSNet
What do RMCE and WSOMSNet do?
Extend the capabilities of Payload Control and Spectrum Monitoring beyond the WSOCs to the remote sites.
What is Network Function?
Any-to-any network providing private and secure Wide Area Network (WAN) infrastructure that connects all WSOC facilities to remote and management sites.
Black data goes to?
RMCE
Red data goes to?
WSOMSNet
Control functions are broken into what two categories?
Payload Control and Spectrum Monitoring
What is Payload Control?
Connectivity between GSCCE and WGS through a remote site.
What is Spectrum Monitoring?
Connectivity to WRMS allowing WSOCs to remotely monitor WGS and DSCS spectrum.
What are the designators used for GSCCE and WRMS equipment in the RMCE and WSOMSNet racks?
GSCCE- Payload Control
WRMS- Spectrum monitoring
What are the networking equipment used in the Spectrum Monitoring Rack?
KG-175G (HAIPEs)
Routers
Firewalls
Network Switches
What are the spectrum monitoring equipment used in the Spectrum Monitoring Rack?
KVM and Mangement Server
Spectrum Monitoring Receivers
Control and Database Servers
Hybrid Server
What is the Management Group Networking Equipment?
A rack of networking equipment and servers that creates and maintains the WSOMSNet, which interconnects all sites: WSOCs, Remotes sites, CWS, Management sites, etc.
What is the RMCE CWS Rack?
A rack of networking equipment and servers that creates and maintains the RMCE network, which interconnects all sites: WSOCs, Remotes sites, CWS, Management sites, etc.
How many versions of RMCE and WSOMSNet are across the RMCE and WSOMSNet subsystems?
4
Legacy RMCE carries classified and unclassified traffic. True or False?
True
Legacy RMCE uses what kind of circuits?
Point-to-point circuits carrying classified traffic tunneled through unclassified traffic.
Legacy RMCE classified traffic is carried through the _________ via tunneling through the unclassified side.
Virtual Private Network Wide Area Network (VPN WAN)
New RMCE can carry unclassified and classified traffic. True or False?
False
New RMCE carries only unclassified traffic.
Legacy WSOMSNet classified traffic was carried through the _________ via tunneling through the unclassified side.
SONET
All classified RMCE traffic is absorbed by the __________.
New WSOMSNet
What do WSOC sites do?
WSOC sites are responsible for controlling mission and payload of WGS and DSCS satellites within their assigned missions.
What do Remote Sites do?
Non-WSOC sites provide surrogate control of satellites to WSOCs when properly equipped
Assist in power down & ups, PMCS, and remove/install of equipment
What do CWS sites do?
CWS sites oversee the operational duties of the WSOCs and provides technical guidance, as necessary.
Provides final approval for all command-and-control operations.
RSSCs do what?
RSSCs determine satellite resource allocation to users and payload configuration states through the use of CNPS
WSOMSNet does what?
WSOMSNet provides the connectivity to CNPS and other WSOMS subsystems for the RSSCs
What does DISA stand for and what does it do?
Defense Information Systems Agency
DISA oversees the operational duties of the SATCOM Gateways, to include remote sites
What does the Australian Defense Network Operations Centre (DNOC) do?
The DNOC facilitates Australian user access to Wideband SATCOM resources. They maintain positive control of Australian users and coordinate with WSOCs and RSSCs on behalf of their users.
