What are the 3 classes of rivets?
Solid rivets
Blind rivets
Special purpose fasteners
Why must correct rivet spacing always be observed?
Excessive holes will weaken the sheet metal
Too little will be unable to take the loads imposed on them
Joint will not be effectively sealed against weather
Rivets too close to the edge of metal may tear under load
What does DLP stand for in relation to rivets?
D - Nominal rivet diameter
L - Land
P - Pitch (distance between the centres of adjacent rivet holes)
What is the allowance for a reaction rivet?
The length of shank that comes out of the hole to form the flat - 1.5 x D

Where are mushroom rivets generally used?
External where flush isn’t necessary
