Rivers Flashcards
Water falls on land flows as streams + rivers. Eventually makes way to sea.
Surface water
Rainwater soak into soil + pass through rocks as ……..?
Groundwater
Plants/trees take up water through roots to grow. Some water returned to air through leaves.
Transpiration
Once in air water vapour rises + cools. As cools begins to condense it turns from vapour back to water droplets to form clouds.
Condensation
Water that falls to ground as precipitation. (Snow, hail, sleet, rain)
Precipitation
Water moves directly over surface
Surface runoff
Water soaks into soil
Infiltration
Water flows through soil towards eg. River
Through flow
Water moves into underlying rock
Percolation
Water flows through rock towards eg. River
Groundwater flow
Roots from plants/trees suck up water from soil for growth
Interception
Water is passed onto atmosphere. Process is invisible. Liquid water turns into water vapour as it passes into air.
