What are the characteristics and formation of interlocking spurs?
A mountain stream erodes vertically creating a V shaped valley
What is the formation of a waterfall?
Hard rock overhangs and eventually collapses the waterfall retreats former position of waterfall which has retreated forming a garage there is very turbulent water pebbles stones and boulders form there is then a plunge pool there is on the undercutting of soft rock by hydraulic action and abrasion
What is a gorge?
A gorge is a narrow steep sided valley found downstream of a retreating waterfall
What is a meander?
Meanders abends in a river found mainly in Lowlander areas they constantly change shape and position
What is the process of a meandering river?
There is thalweg, a pool, a slip off slope, rivercliff and riffle
What are oxbow lakes?
As meanders migrate across the valley floor they erode towards each other eventually forming an oxbow lake
What’s a floodplains?
Floodplains are wide flat areas on either side of a river in its middle and lower courses
What’s are leeves?
Leeves form when in low flow deposition raises through the river bed so the channel don’t carry as much water
What are estuaries?
An estuary is where the river meets the sea
