What is a watershed?
It is a basin like land form.
Mountains sometimes form watersheds.
What is a river system?
A river and all it’s tributaries form a river system
What is a tributary?
It is a small stream that flows into a large river.
What is a catchment area?
The area in which surface water (rain or snow) flows into a particular lake or river
What is a river mouth?
Is the place where a river flows into a large body of water such as the ocean.
What is a perennial river?
A river that flows all year and can be identified on the map as a solid blue line.
What is non-perennial river?
These are seasonal rivers. Which means they flow during the rainy season. During the rest of the year they have little water or are dry.
What is the source of a river?
It is the place where the river starts.
What is the area called where rain water is caught to form streams
The catchment area.

- Rain collects in tiny streams
- Streams join together to form small rivers.
- Rivers flow down hill to low lying ground
