drug therapy that targets LDLs
STATINS
Brand Names: mevacor, zocor, pravachol, lipitor, crestor
Generic Equivelants: lovastatin, simvastatin, pravastatin
Normal and abnormal triglyceride levels
/= 500 = very high
Hypertension drug therapy- uncomplicated
diuretics ex: hydrochlorothiazide
Hypertenion complicated with diabetes
ace inhibitors (captopril, enalopril) angiotension II receptor blockers [ARB] (losartan)
hyperhomocysteinemia
normal is <16.2nmol/ml, so anything over that.
treated with B6, B12, and folate supplements
c-reactive protein drug treatment
aspirin
What to consider if pt is at high risk for CAD?
limit exercise intensity to 10-20 beats above resting HR. musculoskeletan complaints might be anginal
