what are infectious diseases?
diseases caused by pathogens, such as bacteria.
what are lifestyle diseases?
diseases caused partly by unhealthy behaviors and partly by other factors.
what is a risk factor?
a risk factor is anything that increases the likelihood of injury, disease, or other health problems.
what are controllable risk factors?
they are risk factors that you can do something about.
what are uncontrollable risk factors?
uncontrollable risk factors are health risk factors that you cannot do something about, or they’re uncontrollable.
what are some examples of uncontrollable risk factors?
age, race, gender, heredity.
from ages 15 to 24, what are the major causes of death?
motor vehicle accidents, homicide, suicide.
for all ages, what are the major causes of death?
other causes, heart disease, cancer.
what are the six health risk behaviors?
sedentary lifestyle, alcohol and other drug use, sexual activity, behaviors that cause injuries, tobacco use, and poor eating habits.
what does sedentary mean?
not taking part in physical activity on a regular basis.
