the modern ideology for fascism came from Benito Mussolini, who became dictator of Italy in 1922. The 1922 “march on Rome”, Mussolini blackshirts destroyed Italy’s government.

Mussolini was called “Il Duce” meaning “the leader.” He banned opposing political parties, and unions, censored newspapers and created a secret police force, creating a totalitarian dictatorship.
