Civil liberties
A
The rights and freedoms that are recognised within a particular country and protect the individual from the state.

Human rights
A
-Universal in that they belong to humans everywhere, regardless of nationality, ethnic or racial origin, social background.
-Fundamental in that they are inalienable - cannot be taken away.
-Absolute in that they must be fully upheld for every single human life.

-Incorporated ECHR into statute law. (came into effect in 2000)
