What is a Legal Representative
anyone who is authorized to represent a client in a legal proceeding [court etc…]
What is a Criminal Court?
A court that hears proceedings on criminal activity
What are the 4 Different Criminal Courts and explain their role.
- Magistrates’ Court: Deals with Majority of Criminal Offences [No jury only 3 magistrates]
- Crown Court: Deals with more serious offences [Has a Jury and a judge]
- Youth Court: Court for people aged between 10 and 17 [Judge and 3 Magistrates]
What are the 4 Different Civil Courts and explain their function.
- County Court: Deals with the majority of cases in the civil court system
- High Court: Hears matters relating to more important civil matters
- Court of Appeal: Hears appeals against sentences/convictions made in Country court or High court.
- Supreme Court: Deals with the most serious offences, usually of national significance in both criminal and civil cases.

How does Common Law differ from Legislation?
Legislation is law made by parliaments and Common Law is based on court decisions etc…
What are Trade Unions and what do they do?
Trade unions aim to ensure that employees are treated fairly by businesses and they can represent employees in disputes when this is not the case
