Rational Choice Theory criminals decide to
commit crime based on a rational calculation
Assumes that individuals have free will and the ability to reason.
Clarke is a rational choice theorist who argues that criminals
decide to commit crime based on a rational calculation of the
consequences of committing that crime. If the reward of crime is
greater than the cost, they will do it and vice versa.
They argue that the costs of crime are low, so more crime is
happening.
