What’s the underclass?

A

-A group at the bottom of the social structure, underneath the working class
-They are in deprived neighbourhoods
-young single parents getting benefits, they get pregnant on purpose
- no male role model, turns young boys to a life of crime

A

Some groups are more likely to commit crimes, males are more likely to commit violent crimes rather then females

Two limitations

A

-not all crimes are based on rational choice as crimes are often impulsive especially offences under the influence of drugs or alcohol

-there is no evidence to support the fact that there is an underclass as pregnancies were unplanned rather for benefits
